God blesses what He controls!

Choice is an amazing thing. God in His sovereignty gave women and men the ability to chose, free moral agent. God honors our choices.

God led his Jacob and his family to Egypt. There he provided for them. In Egypt they grew to be the size of a nation. The king who had been favorable towards Joseph died and was replaced by a king who saw the people as a potential threat. He chose to enslave them and oppress them. But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread.(Ex 1:12)

OK hold on just a moment… The more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied? WOW God is working even when it seems like the enemy is winning!

The king ordered that the babies should be killed. One child, born in a priestly tribe, would be spared miraculously and raised graciously….Moses.

God raised Moses to deliver the people of God out of Egypt.

Moses saw the injustice and acted. He killed the Egyptian who was beating the Hebrew. Thinking no one saw, he took matters into his own hand. Instead of a deliverer and a champion of the people he was viewed as a murderer and was forced to flee Egypt.

Moses fled to Midian there Moses once again jumped to help some lady shepherd who were being driven away from the watering place for the sheep the tended. Moses would end up marrying one of these shepherdesses that he rescued.

Remember God blesses what He controls!

In the account we come to verse 23 of chapter 2

Exodus 2:23–25 (NIV84)
23 During that long period, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out, and their cry for help because of their slavery went up to God. 24 God heard their groaning and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob. 25 So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them.

Did you notice it was a long time? I can relate to situations that seem like it is a long time waiting. Can you?

But also notice God hears the prayers and God is concerned.

God Hears and God Cares

Moses ends up on “the far side of the dessert” at Mt Horeb or Mt Sinai. Although people differ as to where this mountain is today, Moses would be surprised by a God encounter there.
